Vintage 1987 Lionel #6-11757 Mopar Express O-27 steam locomotive train set – new old dealer stock, complete with sound tender, freight cars, track & transformer
This rare promotional Lionel O-27 gauge set was produced in 1987 for Chrysler Mopar dealers. It features the #1987 4-4-2 steam locomotive with operating headlight and mechanical chug-chug sound tender (both tested and working), plus a matching freight consist: brown gondola, blue flatcar with two Mopar truck trailers (one trailer top missing as noted), silver boxcar, and red caboose. Also included are the Lionel Type 4851 red Train Master transformer, CTC lockon connector, three telephone poles with stands, eight curved track sections, and six straight track sections. Long-time collectors of vintage Lionel trains and Mopar memorabilia will appreciate this complete, ready-to-run or display set.
CONDITION DETAILS: The set was new old dealer display stock and shows no evidence of actual track use other than minimal testing on a short track section. All components are in generally excellent condition with only the noted minor issues. See photos for full details on what is included. The top of one of the truck trailers is missing. The transformer looks pristine and was tested on a VOM with smooth output across the range and the locomotive was tested and ran in forward and reverse with working headlamp. The track shows some signs of normal oxidation and minor rust but is otherwise in very good condition. The set comes in the original Mopar dealer box which is in poor condition and missing the inserts; it shows signs of age and storage including some water damage and torn flaps, but is otherwise still intact – no signs of any water damage to the box contents. There are some very minor zinc oxidation on a few of the train wheels but no significant signs of rust. See photos for detailed condition and what is included.
