This detailed Rivarossi model (believed to be in the Rivarossi 1254 series) captures the iconic power of the Union Pacific Big Boy #4013, one of the legendary 4-8-8-4 articulated steam locomotives. Manufactured in Italy by Rivarossi (founded 1945 in Como), these high-quality HO scale models were popular imports for serious collectors and operators. The full-size Big Boys were designed by Union Pacific and built by ALCO in 1941 and 1944 to haul heavy freight over the challenging Wasatch Mountains.
This example is New Old Stock, unused except for minimal testing on a straight track section where it ran smoothly in both forward and reverse. It is clean and in excellent overall condition and no apparent damage or noticeable flaws. Features the correct #4013 road number on the cab and Union Pacific lettering on the tender.
