This large-scale outdoor railroad set is a faithful 1990s reproduction by T-Reproductions of the classic Buddy L pressed-steel trains from the 1920s–1930s. Founded in Johnson City, Tennessee, by Norman Thomas, T-Reproductions created these pieces entirely from scratch using fresh tooling and dies based on original Buddy L designs. Every component was newly manufactured (some parts U.S.-made, some overseas) before final assembly and finishing in Tennessee — these are not refurbished originals but high-quality licensed reproductions prized by collectors for their heavy construction and accurate detailing.
The 4-6-2 Pacific-type locomotive and matching tender feature durable pressed-steel bodies, period styling, and the substantial presence that made the originals legendary. When coupled, the set measures 44 inches long and is ideal for display or operation on 3¼" gauge outdoor/garden track. The engine remains clean overall with only minor signs of recent track use if any. Battery connectors are included, but no battery, charger, box or instructions are included.
CONDITION DETAILS Vintage reproduction in good overall condition with honest signs of age and light handling. Some minor paint chips are present, along with a bent cab roof corner, a bent front cowcatcher (pilot), missing front coupler, and a small paint chip on the side rods (drive mechanism connecting the wheels), other minor scratches and paint blemishes. These and other minor cosmetic issues do not affect the impressive display quality of this large, detailed locomotive and tender.
