This is a Vintage Tonka Fire Dept. No. 5 Hydraulic Aerial Ladder Fire Truck in pressed steel — a classic large-scale fire apparatus in very good condition with the extra extension ladder included. The cab is a later-style Tonka design, most consistent with mid-to-late 1960s through the 1970s.
The Tonka Fire Department No. 5 hydraulic aerial ladder truck is made of pressed steel and features the raisable and extending aerial ladder system with the original rope still intact, dual rear axles, and the classic Tonka F.D. styling popular in the mid-to-late 20th century. Tonka produced these substantial play vehicles in Mound, Minnesota.
This example is complete with believed only the rear tiller man and red lens on the roof light missing, and includes the extra extension ladder (3 total ladders included). The main aerial ladder operates with one extension and the rope is intact, though it does not currently raise vertically (nothing appears broken — likely needs lubrication). Paint remains in good shape with only light wear. A strong display or playable piece for Tonka and fire truck collectors.

CONDITION DETAILS: Very good overall condition. Paint is solid with only a few light scratches and mars. Minor rust (and some white rust) is present on the unpainted axles and other unpainted metal parts, as expected with age. The rear tiller man and red light lens is missing, otherwise no other known missing parts. The aerial ladder rope is intact and the ladder operates, though it does not currently raise to a vertical position (nothing broken — appears to need lubrication).
